Tjuvholmen Underwater Parking House is part of a new residential area being developed in the harbour of Oslo. The parking house consists of four separate box-like units in prestressed concrete.
Each unit is constructed complete with walls and decks in dry dock at a ship yard some 100 km away from Oslo, towed to the construction site and installed on pre-driven piles to rock. The roof of the four sections will be connected by slab structures to form a reclaimed land area of 21,000 m2 for future buildings and recreation areas.
Aas-Jakobsen AS was awarded the design in a turnkey contract with Skanska Contractors, and NCE assisted Aas-Jakobsen with engineers and CAD-operators in design of the four units.
