This underpass is a turnkey project for The Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA). NCE worked with contractor Bhrom Vivat and was responsible for design of the underpass and control building.
The underpass is 12 m wide and 747 m long, with a 287 m long cut and cover section and 230 m approach section on each side. The underpass is designed as a watertight structure permanently located underground water level.
Diaphragm walls are used to carry horizontal forces. Uplift is carried by the bottom slab and transferred to the diaphragm walls without tension piles. The deck slab is designed in prestressed concrete, which made it possible to reduce deck thickness and thereby the depth of the underpass.
