The North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project involves constructing 70 km of double track standard gauge railway from Manila to New Clark city, with over 40 km of elevated viaduct. NCE joined Japanese’s JICA design team to carry out basic design and detailed structural design of an iconic extradosed bridge over Macarthur highway.
In basic design stage, four alternative bridge types are considered. The most feasible bridge type was concluded to be an extradosed bridge.
The extradosed bridge has a total length of 300 m with a 140 m central span supporting double tracks of commuter rail.
