NCE carried out detailed design of the expansion of existing Rangsit Interchange, which is one of the most heavily trafficked interchanges in Thailand.
The project included traffic survey and forecasting, alternative route arrangement and selection, detailed design and tender documents of five new ramps in the interchange, including connections with the existing Don Muang Toll Road.
The ramps were originally designed with cast-in-situ post-tensioned box girders, typical span length 40 m, post-tensioned concrete slab, typical span length 30 m and pre-cast and pre-tensioned concrete girders. Foundations are on bored piles to about 50 m depth.
Upon request by DOH four of the five ramps were later redesigned with precast segmental box girders.
